Law and Order in India – Looking forward to a brighter India!

India‘s long-term legal institutions, which are inherent in the principles of justice and democracy, ensure clear, predictable and secure surroundings for business as well as foreign investment. One might tend to think that India has unchecked Crime and Corruption problems, but facts speaks in a different way.

Corruption in India might still be uncontrolled and people (mainly those in government) and thwarting stinks such as the Volker scandal, continue to be on the take. However, Corruption Perception Index, a study released by Transparency International, believed that corruption has reduced marginally in India and has ranked the country 88th amongst 159 nations. The survey is not just restricted to financial value of petty corruption. It also comprises public services and states.

Is the law and order situation in India worsened?

The increasing murders, rapes and thefts are worsening the condition of India. There is augment in crime rates in some urban areas, particularly cities and metro areas. However, the police is dealing with them suitably, in spite of their problems of more work as they have to handle the protection for VIPs visits, terrorist monitor, in addition to regular patrol as well as investigation of crimes.

Moreover, rising problems of unemployment due to jobless growth, cut throat fight in trade and politics have also caused a raise in the crime rates. Exploitation of police wings by ruling parties to do away with their enemies by imposing criminal cases on them also add to the strain of police force. Moreover, there is the ubiquitous corruption at all levels, police not excluded, that affect fair and quick investigations, however there are lot of devoted and efficient police officers at higher levels doing their best and the people still have trust in the police, on the whole.

Suggestion to improve Law and Order by providing token employment to the youths of the country:

Presently most of the crimes, whether related to murder, kidnapping, dreadful crime or even terrorist activities, are committed by youths among the age of 20-30 years and most of whom are unwaged. Such unemployed youths are targets for the hardcore criminals who catch them in their net. They acquire all their illegal activities done through these youths. If we want to save the nation from such criminals we have to plan to employ these youths in some activities so that they must not be available to these criminals for trivial sums. We need to create such schemes which should be sincere, genuine and in the best interest of our youth. A schedule should be prepared of youths who do not want to study further. The government will employ them temporarily and shall give some monthly wage. The thought is to keep them busy to get their dal roti as well as not to provide them the time to assume about other activities. If they will earn some money, they will not be the targets for the criminals to appoint them for their evil activities.

It will have the following advantages:

1. The government will have a big force of lively youths of the country, which can be put for any use. Like for any good work or to keep the country neat and clean.

2. These youths will have time and money to improve their careers, meet their monetary needs, and keep them busy in fairly constructive work.

3. People would be able to enjoy a peaceful life.

The plan has many benefits but to finance such social welfare system the government need to think vigorously on these points as well as the big business and industry houses have to be ready to share the cost of it. I think the person is looking forward to a brighter India.
