A Poem by Kakali Biswas

Kakali Biswas

Don't shake the trees in my garden
They do not shower flowers

anymore
Only the rustle of dead branches
Match the pain in my heart so

sore
Spring is a mirage receding
That doesn't touch my lonely

bower
So don't show me rainbows and green fields
My arbor won't bear

another flower
I will watch other gardens full blooming
And think of

the times that have been
Will fasten the bolt on the wicket
Will hide,

so that I am not seen
And you, dear stranger, remember
This road to me

brings you no bliss
Turn your back on me forever
From here I will send

you a kiss.
