I loved the moon; the pale blue has a soothing quality and contrasts well with the starkness of the branches and the burnt sienna ground. I liked the dream like quality of the horse as well. These two are the best of the pick, IMHO.

I liked the Snow Leopard also… though the right side of the leopard is slightly bleached, probably because of reflected light. This is the beauty (as well as curse) of nature photography, because in order to capture one image for the pages of NG, the photographers often snap hundreds of images of the same subject – just to find the perfect one.

I agree with the observation of @Indrajit; you need a D-SLR, perhaps a modest Nikon D-60 to begin with.

Perhaps from the next time onwards, Palki can allow the downloading of the original images if the author/photographer so agrees. The images can be watermarked unobtrusively with the author’s name.

The picture of the moon looks out focussed, but I think it’s not so bad. Ok, I’ll send u soon..the photographs r not in my hard drive,rather in some dvds. So ‘ve to search them out:)

I do understand the difficulties associated with nature photography; and that’s why photographers of National Geographic are rated so high! No doubt, you are doing a great job; I am confident, soon you should be able to take NG quality photographs by polishing your skils! Well, the pdf resolutions may not be as good as your original photographs, but I would guess, it is okay to adjust your images dpi, size etc. electronically for such e-documents before submitting (as people do to their images and figures before sending out their peer reviewed papers). However, I should say, most of the photographs in Palki came out really well even in pdf!

@Idrajit(da?!!), thanks bro for such helpful criticisms, I will try to remember next time.

First, I need a dslr so badly from last few years, only money prevents me.

secondly, I think the quality of the images can not be judged from the pdf files, kindly send me your email Id and I’ll send u the photographs #2,3&6..check if they are really out focussed.
And, situation does not always permit to check the right exposure, aperture, specially in case u r dealing with a wild animal. The snow leopard is so elusive, I don’t know how many people get a privilege to see one in naked eyes. I got, and I did not miss the chance to catch it in frame, tried but could not escape from the sunlight though. Actually I had to wait for 20-30 minutes to get the open eyes properly.
In the first pic too, I stood still for so long, the reptile itself came near me and gave me a chance to take its close up. Anyway, thanks for nice comments

I saw your photographs in Palki-5, and now I should say — you improved a lot from the last time (I am not a professional photographer, but into serious imaging — different types). Overall your photographs in Palki-6 are really Good. Keep up the good work! I thought there are still a few areas you can work on to show us some amazing photographs in Palki-7 by improving a little bit your focusing skills (e.g., pic.# 2,3, & 6 can be improved); light balance (e.g. part of the pic. # 5 is saturating)etc. In fact, I liked the last photograph a lot — probably the best one (another suggestion: if possible, try some HDR shots for such situation and let me know if you like it or not). It’s a time to get a SLR camera my friend — now you deserve it (I think, you didn’t used any SLR for these shots, right?)! All the best. Hope we’ll see another set of great photographs from you in next Palki.
